Glad to know what I’ve been experiencing has a name — the oddball effect!
I find that blocking out, say, an hour for a task is too daunting, so I tell myself “just 15 minutes” or 10, or even 5. And when those 5, 10, or 15 minutes are over, I find that I’ve gathered enough momentum to do more. In fact, sometimes I don’t even want to start until my task is completed! I think there’s a name for this…Zeitgarnik effect or something?
