Great piece. I wish people could see putting their pronouns in social media profiles or whatever as utilitarian more than anything. I think we (cis and trans people alike) all benefit when we share our pronouns (if we're comfy with it). It's similar to when people used to put "Ms." or "Mrs." or "Mr." at the end of an email signature because it's not clear from their name their gender or marital status (ie. if they had a non-English or gender-neutral name). I personally feel very grateful when I see someone's preferred salutations and/or pronouns in their correspondence because it means I will not need to guess! Thereby eliminating my committing of a social faux-pas.

I don't really identify as trans but I do present in a pretty gender-fluid way. I put my pronouns in my emails and social media because I want people to refer to me in a way that won't make them (or I) awkward. It works out for all of us!
