Holy crap I related to almost every single thing in this story:
- the parent who isn't anti-gay but isn't immediately supportive either, and being told "oh, maybe you're just confused / you just don't know yet"
- trying (unsuccessfully) to like guys
- my friends knowing i'm gay before i did
- finding solace in on-screen f/f relationships
Only thing I didn't relate to was having my own Mary, probs cuz you have more game than I do xD
