I completely applaud this idea. However, practically speaking, it may take years, perhaps generations, to make this a reality. We need everyone, or at least a vast majority, to agree to doing this. If only a handful of progressive raise their children gender-neutrally, those kids run the risk of being horrendously bullied by their peers and by adults who aren’t into this sort of thing.

Hopefully in a few generations this will become a de-facto thing. Until then, western society still hasn’t been able to figure out that men and women are equal, never mind all the folks in between :/
