I have had similar experiences! I went from 0 curations when I first started to a curation streak and...nothing special really happened. I also like commenting to stories and I think this is the most genuine form of engagement. Of course, writers whose story you comment on will likely check you out (and I tend to get interested in folks who comment on mine) but that should be a secondary win. Conversation is the whole point :)
