When I started hanging out at friends’ houses with game systems, I wanted to play. But since I didn’t understand how to use the controllers, everyone teased me for sucking. So I declared “I don’t play video games” instead of embarrassing myself.

Oh man this just blew my mind…truthfully, this is a big reason why I dislike the things I dislike. I hate sports because I embarrassed myself playing them. I hate math because an adult yelled at me for not understanding something as a kid.

My partner is also super fond of video games! I made an effort to take an interest in them even if I wasn’t at the beginning of our relationship. Now she has managed to get me hooked on a handful of games. Video games are fun, and as long as you don’t let them rule your life, it’s okay to enjoy gaming.
