And when you tell a bunch of people you are a writer, they immediately ask, “Have we seen you somewhere?!” And you say, “Maybe in [Obscure Literary Magazine]” and they just smile awkwardly, realizing that not all professional writers are by definition famous and not being famous doesn’t mean you’re not a professional writer.
