Really appreciated this nuanced piece. What's problematic isn't "cancel culture" per se but an all-or-nothing culture. Most people aren't perfect. Most people want to do their best, then make mistakes. Yes, people should be held accountable for their mistakes, but they make an effort to learn from them, this should be celebrated to. And we shouldn't expect every movie, television show, or book in the world to be 100% perfect in all this representations.

Perhaps the answer to this is media literacy. If we teach people from a young age to question the stories they consume, everyone will be much better equipped to discern the better from the worst.
