Thanks for writing this! I learned a lot, it was very educational. I'm Canadian but my family is from Hong Kong. I've always felt that in Hong Kong, you have a lot of freedom to do or say what you want, but there aren't enough laws protecting your right to do so. I've seen many same-sex couples in HK and as far as I know, there's nothing barring them from living and existing. There's just no protection.

I genuinely hope it'll change someday. My parents are proud Hong Kongers who grew up in the Christian-backed schools you mentioned. At one point they weren't the most accepting of people, but they've now come a long way. Their only kid (me) is queer, they don't shame me for it, and I'm proud of them for making the journey. No doubt it's thanks to the speed of LGBTQ+ advancement in the West recently. (We live in a very progressive part of Canada, so it's kinda hard not to be liberal lol).
