What an interesting read. I've definitely seen these issues IRL. As a kid, I had tomboy tendencies like disliking "girly" things and one of my best friends (a boy) disliked sports. His mom strongly encouraged him to play sports, while my parents didn't care about my tomboyness at all.

We're both queer adults now. I definitely got the sense that being a feminine guy was worse than being a masculine girl. Masculinity > femininity at the end of the day, it seems.
