Wonderful story, Coka. To be honest, I rarely hear discourse about decolonization (as it refers to Indigenous peoples) in America. Here in Canada, it's a big part of our social justice conversation. I'm not American, so it's not necessarily my place to criticize, but I do think the U.S. could benefit from opening up a conversation about Indigenous rights. Simply becoming aware of who were the original caretakers of the land I live in has changed my perspective on life and identity profoundly, even as a settler of colour.
