Wow, the workshop writing point was spot-on. I’ve grown accustomed to writing a certain style as a graduate of a creative writing program. I’ve always find it funny that many people with actual degrees and years of study in writing don’t become best-selling authors, while many authors may have come to writing from a totally different field.

Maybe some of us try too hard! Or in the process of trying too hard, lose what makes us distinct.
