Yes! Thank you for acknowledging this grief. I felt it for many years, as someone who didn’t even begin dating until well into their 20s.
I absolutely hated the plattitudes you listed. The “it’ll happen when you least expect it!” and the “there’s always someone for everyone!” At some point, the healthiest thing to do was simply accept the uncertainty that you may perhaps walk this Earth never having been in a relationship.
I don’t mean to self-promote here, but I do think you might enjoy a recent piece I wrote about having never dated until later in life.
There is so much unnecessary shame put upon those who are single. Pop culture continuously tells us that the purpose of life is to find our ever-after and nothing else matters.
